A lot of people are talking about Uganda these days. Whether you think catching Kony will fix everything or you have no idea what I’m talking about, you might enjoy these photos. Uganda holds a special place in my heart. Dan and I went for five weeks in 2009. It took me longer than that to “recover” from my time there, and I guess in a way, I hope I never do.
We were there taking photos for an organization called Light Gives Heat, who just today has released a feature film about how they got their start. It’s a touching story about taking a risk and refusing to make life choices out of fear. I think we can all relate to this struggle whether we’ve been to Africa or not. If you have an hour and a half, you can watch the movie by clicking here. It’s free!
The women in this movie are my friends, and it was amazing to see their faces again. I have danced and laughed with them and held their hands. And, of course, it was wonderful to see my photos being used in the movie. Here are a few that have remained my favorites over the years.
